What is free verse?
Free verse is a literary style where you do not have typical punctuation, rhyme, or logical order. In essence, free verse is often a stream of consciousness or style individual to the writer.
Why is your blog called "free verse"?
I call it "Free Verse by Kat" because I like the individuality the free verse style gives a writer. Writing is an art form, and art expresses your personal ideas or thoughts and then shares it with the world. I wanted to show that in the title.
Is this a Christian blog?
Yes and no, but mainly yes. Yes, because I use lots of Scripture in my bias and poetry volumes. I also want to spread light to others, and Scripture is a fantastic way to lift people up. If you are not a Christian but want a wholesome blog to read, then this also applies to you! I do not always include Scripture, and if I do not, then all of my work is written to create a positive community. So, really, this blog is for everyone.
What kinds of works do you write?
I like to write many kinds of literary works. I tend to write fiction, but since that is often much too long to put on a blog, I usually only upload things like poetry, creative nonfiction, and opinion pieces. My opinion pieces (bias) are like a poem-nonfiction hybrid. My favorite style is fiction, so I often write short or novel-length stories in my spare time.
What are some writing tips?
First: NEVER DELETE! If you prefer computers, copy and paste the lines or sections you dislike into a separate doc and then label them, in case you realize you like that bit later on. If you hand write, I suggest writing reworded sections or changes on another paper or the back of the notebook or in the margins.
Second: Don't be afraid to revise, but never revise if it would change YOU. If you write a haiku and like the words you used, then leave them!
P.S.: Always be respectful when others tell you their opinion or possible changes, but those are suggestions only. Your work is your work. Of course, if you have an agent or editor, you might need to listen to them. But if you write as a hobby like me, then changes are 100% optional.

How do you get better at writing?
My advice? Do it A LOT! Write poems, fiction...just whatever feels most natural to you. If outlining helps, then make a tentative outline of the plot or topics and then go from there. Sometimes making lists of characters and their characteristics helps get my brain working. But to be honest, I think that if it sounds good to you, then it will be your best because you gave it your best. Practically, writing constantly or often at the very least makes writing better, because you are practicing a skill.
What do you blog about?
My blog topic depends on the blog. If you find my Contact page, you will find two different blogs: Random Sunshine and Finding Rubies. Random Sunshine is a collection of random creative literature, posts, and overall just has a chaotically fun atmosphere. Finding Rubies is a Christian blog designed for women and girls of all backgrounds who want a calm, uplifting place to read and interact and learn about women in the Bible and how to apply those lessons to their lives. Free Verse is solely for my writing. So, basically, I blog about many different things!
HAVE YOU EVER PUBLISHED ANYTHING?
Not yet! I hope to do so in the future. However, if you count the works on this blog, then those could be considered "published" depending on how technical you get.
Is this blog free, or do i have to create an account?
This blog is 100% free, and no account is required!
